Jill: A Mom's Perspective

Jill: A Mom's Perspective

One of the greatest gifts you can give your children is a love of physical activity and fitness.  Our bodies release chemical endorphins when we exert energy.  The “rush” we feel when exercising are the feel-good endorphins at work giving us a more positive and energizing outlook on life. I believe if our children are taught to exercise at an early age, their attraction to maintain a physical lifestyle is even stronger as adults.

In an age so filled with technology that kids can download movies to their phones in seconds and we can run errands while lying on the couch, we must work even harder to incorporate physical activity into our children’s daily routine.  By setting a healthy example ourselves, and taking time to play with our kids doing active things together, we show them that exercise isn’t a chore.  Beyond the physical benefits of exercise, staying active has been proven to reduce stress, ward off feelings of anxiety and depression, boost self-esteem and improve sleep.  All great perks that we certainly want for our children and ourselves.  And if exercise isn’t already part of your regular routine, maybe a team approach with your family can inspire greatness.
